Scientists Move to Find Alien Civilizations Using “Technosignatures”
A new grant, recently funded by NASA, attempts to answer the question: What would a technological civilization look like to us, across the Galaxy? The grant was awarded to Primary Investigator Adam Frank of the University of Rochester, along with Jacob-Haqq Misra of Blue Marble Space, Manasvi Lingam from the Florida Institute of Technology, Avi Loeb of Harvard, and Jason Eright from Pennsylvania State University. This grant stands out because it is the first time NASA funded a SETI-only project in three decades. It is also the first NASA non-radio technosignature awarded — which means that the scientists are not just looking at the radio band, as many SETI searches so far.
